NEWS: Lt. Governor David Zuckerman’s Statement on Violence in Israel and Palestine
MONTPELIER, Vt: On Tuesday, Lt. Governor David Zuckerman released the following statement amid the ongoing violence in the Middle East:
“I strongly condemn the attacks by Hamas on Israel. The terrorist actions of killing and taking civilian hostages is never ok. My heart is with the innocent people of Israel and of Palestine who are dying today and who have been the pawns in the struggle between others seeking power, control and money for decades. The ongoing and present result of this power struggle has been unnecessary death and destruction. We must work towards a peaceful resolution where people can live in community, side by side, without fear of violence. One side must not dominate and control how others live. More war and attacks will lead to more deaths, not peace. Investing in food security, economic security, healthcare, education, energy independence, and democracy rather than weapons and war will help create a lasting peace. Inflicting harm and terrorizing innocent civilians, children, and babies is never ok.”
