Friend,

The historic flooding last month has had a deep impact on our state. In my travels to Hardwick, Montpelier, Ludlow and many areas in between, it has been heartbreaking to see the damage inflicted on people’s homes, businesses, and to our natural landscape. It has also been heartening to see communities come together to help their neighbors and strangers who are in need of support during this time. In some counties, community members were the only folks coordinating efforts for many days and even weeks.  This is a strong reminder of how we can come together for our common needs and not just how we can, but that we do.

The recovery efforts around the state are continually evolving. Here is an updated list of information and resources for those who have been impacted and for those who wish to help. I’ve also updated this list on my website for easier sharing.

It is also my understanding that farms that have not been flooded, but who have been impacted by the persistent rains that we have experienced, should contact your local FSA offices and report the losses that you are experiencing.  They may also become eligible for federal aid.
