      Summary: Vermont Maple Sugarmakers will pack this year's syrup for "Operation Vermont Maple Sweetness 2007," to ship syrup to Vermont troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for the 3rd year in a row. This year, sugarmakers expect to pack 1000 gallons of pure Vermont maple syrup into pint containers for distribution to troops, bringing a taste of home to Vermonters serving in harms way.

Governor Brian Dubie welcome officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services who are in Vermont to highlight the importance of preventing chronic disease and illness by taking advantage of screenings and preventive benefits offered through Medicare. Joining the Governor and Lt.     •   GE Aviation Expansion Groundbreaking

      Location: GE Aviation Plant 2, 270 Windcrest Road, North Clarendon
      Summary: Lt. Governor Dubie will join GE leaders and local dignitaries to kick off the 27,000 square foot Plant 2 building expansion, needed to provide manufacturing space for the new GEnx engine's turbine blades, and also to recognize the outstanding workforce and management at GE Rutland, who were selected by GE for this work based on their expertise with a process called ECM (Electrical Chemical Machining), which is required to efficiently manufacture these new turbine blades.

      Summary: Two US First Robotics Competition teams -- The Green Team 885 from central Vermont and the St. Johnsbury Academy team demonstrate the robots they created for the 2008 US First competition. 1,501 teams made up of 37,525 high-school students from Brazil, Canada, Chile, Israel, Mexico, the Netherlands, the U.K., and every state in the U.S. engaged in this year's competition. Each team builds a robot that may weigh up to 120 pounds, in 6 weeks, from a common kit of parts provided by FIRST. Teams design robots to perform a common task whic is assigned by First. Lt. Governor Dubie watches the robots perform and talks with students, sponsors and mentors who created them.
