LT. GOVERNOR GRAY ON H.428, RELATING TO HATE-MOTIVATED CRIMES AND MISCONDUCT
Montpelier, Vt—Today, Lt. Governor Gray released the following statement following the Senate’s passage of H.428, an act relating to hate-motivated crimes and misconduct:
“As a former prosecutor, and trained human rights lawyer, I wanted to applaud the legislature for their leadership on H.428.
Our democracy thrives when we amend the law from what it has been to what it should be. H. 428 will give prosecutors more tools to hold perpetrators of hate-motivated crimes accountable. No Vermonter should live in fear of hate.
Today marks an important step forward in strengthening opportunities for accountability and justice.”
