STATEMENT OF LT. GOVERNOR GRAY ON THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SEPTEMBER 11 ATTACKS
Montpelier, Vt - Today, Lt. Governor Molly Gray released the following statement:
“As we come together to mark the 20-year anniversary of the deadly attacks on September 11, 2001, I hope Vermonters will join me in remembering the lives lost and in honoring the service and sacrifice of so many members of our community, particularly our Vermont National Guard.
For a generation, my generation, who came of age during the aftermath of September 11, the attacks shaped our adult lives. Today, we also honor those who sacrificed in service to our nation and those who still live with the scars of that day.
We also know that there is a generation that has no memory of these attacks but whose lives have been shaped by September 11th. As we look to the future, we must not forget the past.
Today, and as we move forward, my sincere hope is that we remember that we are strongest when we are united as Vermonters, as Americans, and as a global community in facing our greatest challenges.”
