PUBLIC STATEMENT: LT. GOVERNOR MOLLY GRAY ON THE UNITED STATES' REJOINING THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT
Montpelier, Vt. – Lt. Governor Molly Gray today issued the following statement in support of the United States’ rejoining of the Paris Climate Agreement
“Today is an important day as we work to re-engage the international community, particularly the nearly 200 nations which have signed the Paris Climate Agreement and have committed to addressing global warming and greenhouse gas emissions.
While there is no question that global action is necessary and Vermont cannot go at it alone, we would be remiss if we did not recognize the work of Vermonters at the local, municipal, and statewide level over the last four years in the absence of an international treaty. From the statewide passage of the Global Warming Solutions Act to the efforts of Vermont cities and towns, and the leadership of Vermont’s renewable energy pioneers, our small state took big steps.
While I applaud the leadership of President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, I also applaud Vermonters across our state for their efforts in helping Vermont do its part in our corner of the globe.”
