Abenaki Recognition Ceremony and Drumming Celebration

Lt. Governor David Zuckerman and legislative leaders proclaim Abenaki Recognition and Culture Week with this festive kick-off ceremony and celebration of “The Road to Recognition: The Abenakis and the State of Vermont, the first permanent exhibit of our state’s indigenous people in their capitol.
The chiefs of the four State-recognized Abenaki bands will address the crowd, as native drummers, singers and dancers perform in front of the State House. Authentic Abenaki finger food and drink will be served, provided by the Friends of the Vermont State House. All are invited, free of charge! Spread the word! For more information, call the Lt.
