Fairlee--The Vermont Association of Chiefs of Police has announced that Lt. Governor Brian Dubie is the recipient of its 2004 Martin Award. The association presented the award to Dubie at its annual Awards Banquet in May. The group also honored Milton Police Chief Brett VanNoordt with its annual Belleville Award.
The awards are named for long-serving Springfield Police Chief Sherman T. Martin and Brattleboro Police Chief Reginald D. Belleville, who were founding members when the association was formed in 1966.
The Belleville Award recognizes a chief in good standing for significant contributions to the association’s advancement. VanNoordt was chosen for his outstanding work in fund raising.
The Martin Award is presented annually to an individual selected by the association’s board of directors for making a significant contribution to the advancement of the association.
Essex Police Chief David Demag, President of the Association, said Dubie was chosen “for his work throughout the State in the areas of highway safety, homeland security and in improving radio communications. Lt. Governor Dubie has also been very supportive of various other law enforcement initiatives that are consistent with the mission of the Vermont Association of Chiefs of Police.”
