Lt. Governor Dubie To Discuss Vermont Approach to Energy Development and Greenhouse Gas Reduction

(Montreal, Quebec, Canada) -- Vermont Lt. Governor Brian Dubie will join a prestigious group of presenters at the 11th Conference de Montreal International Economic Forum, to take place from Monday, May 30 through Thursday, June 2 at the Hilton Bonaventure Hotel in Montreal.

Lt. Governor Dubie will participate in Tuesday’s “Energy and Climate Change” program, organized cooperatively by Conference de Montreal and Hydro-Quebec. He will address Vermont’s approach to reconciling energy development with the goal of improving air quality.

The theme of Tuesday’s program is: "Water, Energy and Climate Change: A Global Problem."

Pierre Corbeil, Québec's Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife, Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, Minister of International Relations and Minister Responsible for the Francophonie, and Patrick Moore, founding member and former President of Greenpeace, will deliver keynote speeches.

The morning session will focus on responsible water management. Four experts will summarize the latest achievements in adapting to the impact of climate change on water management throughout the world. The afternoon session will discuss questions related to reconciling energy development and the measures taken by various jurisdictions to reduce emissions.

Other speakers Tuesday afternoon include: Forum Moderator Michel Robitaille, Quebec Delegate General in New York; Pierre Corbeil, Quebec Minister of Natural Resources; Lic. José Alberto Acevedo, Deputy Minister of Electricity of Mexico; Vyacheslav Y. Sinyugin, Chairman of the Management Board, Federal Hydrogeneration Company, a subsidiary of RAO UES, Russia; and Alejandra Nicoli, Director of International Affairs, Tecpetrol, Argentina.
