Lt. Governor Brian Dubie will be on hand at Shelburne Bay Senior Living Community to officially celebrate the opening of The Shores Assisted Living, comprised of 26 apartments designed specifically for assisted living, and The Haven Memory Care Center, 14 new apartments designed for memory care.
In all, 40 new apartments have been added to the Community’s already-existing 72 independent living apartments.
“A senior care community like Shelburne Bay allows older adults to stay in Vermont and enjoy the finest care available,” said Dubie, “and that’s a good thing for them, for their children and grandchildren, for their friends and neighbors.” In addition, he said, “younger families who relocate to Vermont are now able to move their parents here.” Shelburne Bay Senior Living Communities report that more than half of their current residents have come here from another state, and many are returning home after living out-of-state for years.
Assisted living and memory care are two important advances in senior care.
Not long ago, those who needed only slight assistance had few options beyond nursing home care. Assisted living enables older Vermonters to enjoy both a comfortable residential setting, as well as the support they need.
Memory care serves older adults who experience chronic memory loss with the special safety, security and care they need. The Haven Center in particular, employs the latest state-of-the-art design and programming available.
